In India of year 1862, a religious guru called Maharaj had many followers and was notorious for having inappropriate relationships with young women disciples who came to him to serve. A young and brave reformist cum journalist who wanted to expose him did so though articles in the newspaper he edited. In retaliation Maharaj filed a defamation case against the journalist which was fought in court.
